About the artist
I have been drawn to art since childhood, but it was during the quiet and uncertainty of the pandemic that I began to discover what it meant to me.
I started painting out of curiosity and a need to create, experimenting with acrylic and oil on canvas before discovering watercolor. My focus gradually shifted from objects to imagined figures, exploring color, movement and emotion.
My work draws on imagination and feelings we recognize but cannot always explain, from joy and tenderness to chaos and uncertainty. The encouragement of friends and family, including those who welcomed my paintings into their homes, gave me the confidence to keep creating, even when letting go of a piece felt difficult.
In June 2023, I was invited to exhibit for the first time. The response encouraged me to develop my artistic voice. That body of work became Unspoken, a collection of abstract figurative watercolor portraits exploring emotion and identity through blurred features, loose washes and simplified forms.
As my work evolved, it led to Inside Out, a collection of expressive mixed media portraits combining spontaneous lines, layered color, fragmented faces and handwritten thoughts to reflect the many forms emotion can take.
I continue to experiment and learn, allowing my work to evolve without limiting it to one style or medium. With new projects and exhibitions ahead, I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
